Throwing trees

Dear M.E. (Mother Earth),

This year the play was drama.
A presentation to storm our souls,
moving land and heart.
In characters of thunder, and hurricanes and wind and rain,
And pain and fear and loss and death.
And then again.

The production was so loud,
The stage so intense,
The message so fierce.
What dear Mother Earth, are you trying to tell -
Speaking a new language by throwing trees?
You’d think it was enough to make us pause,
To question without sense,
Why angry trees are flying?

Some of us know-
You are holy land,
You hold our feet and
Let us walk on sacred ground.
You sprinkle flowers,
Sparkle sun,
Glitter moon,
And make fresh air to keep us here.
Some of us understand,
The drowning shores,
The cries of the sea
The washing and twists of uprooted planes.

And some of us, the sacred few,
Carry pain for falling trees,
Not deep enough to make us change.

DEAR BLESSED SWEET MOTHER EARTH,
SO SORRY WE HURT YOU AND CONTINUE TO DO SO,
AND YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE DESPERATE WIND YOUR MESSENGER.

The hologram of a tree

“I am a tree
and the tree is me.
And if I flee
away from the tree,
I lose me.
I long to be,
And live free
And all I need to see
Is the beauty of a tree.”

Life can be reduced to a simple formula –
The farther I move from nature,
The longer is my distance to God.
The more steps I take away from the sea,
The more chaos I could find in my soul.

Life can be reduced to a simple formula –
NATURE IS THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING!
And if I could be silent in the forest,
And understand myself in it,
I would not need to learn respect the land.
I and others would not have to make a political issue
Of the environment or separate its value and my hands from the earth.

My love for the tree is my love for myself and all that is around me and within. And if I could get back to it, live in it, bow in gratitude,
I could never pollute, abuse, hurt, dismiss me and the tree,
And the others who stand in the forest.

The farther I move from the tree,
The farther I move from me.
Because I am a tree,
And the tree is me.
